![]() What are the benefits of having a facial? Facials are extremely beneficial in skin rejuvenation. Facials nourish the skin and all it's structures by stimulating blood circulation. Blood brings oxygen, which is essential to cell growth and also removes waste products, therefore helping to rid the skin of impurities. They can make a dramatic difference in the appearance of your complexion. Roughened, sun-damaged skin can become smooth and more even in color and tone. Acneic skin can be calmed and remarkably cleared and controlled. Other benefits of facials include strengthening and toning of muscle fibers. By toning the facial muscles the skin will experience a slowing of the aging process What are the benefits of purchasing a series of facials? While it may be luxurious and beneficial to have a facial every so often, it is usually not enough to get the results a client may be looking to achieve. A single one-hour facial cannot be expected to undo what has taken years to acquire – whether it be acne, sun-damage, premature aging, hyper-pigmentation, etc. Results will be maximized with a series of consistent and frequent treatments. It is also more cost effective than purchasing one facial at a time. How often should I get a facial? It is recommended that those with normal skin receive facials every 4-6 weeks. It is recommended that those with problematic or acneic skin come more frequently initially – at least once a week until the condition heals. The commitment to adhering to a strict facial schedule in conjunction with a strict at home regime will give you the best results. How often should I get waxed? For the best results, repeat your waxing every 4-6 weeks, depending on the area and your individual hair growth. Can I get waxing on my face the same day as a getting a facial? Yes, any waxing done on your face will come after the facial. Why do I sometimes breakout or get ingrown hairs after waxing? Avoid touching the areas that were just waxed as your hands contain dirt and oil that may be transferred to the newly exposed pores where the hairs have been removed and clog them. Clogged pores cause breakouts. It is helpful to gently exfoliate the areas that are going to be getting waxed a few days prior to remove the buildup of dead skin cells. You may use a manual exfoliant, such as a washcloth with warm water, a gentle scrub, or a chemical exfoliant containing a beta hydroxy acid (aka salicylic acid). You should repeat the exfoliating process at least 24-48 hours after the waxing to keep the pores clear and prevent breakouts and ingrown hairs from forming. Can large pores be made smaller? No. They can be made to appear smaller once debris has been removed from the follicles. Will my skin look worse after receiving a facial? It is possible that your skin may look worse before it looks better after a facial, especially if you have acneic skin. This is simply due to infectious matter escaping from below the surface of the skin, not the actual products used during the facial. What kinds of products do you use during your treatments? The majority of the products that I use for facials are by Dermalogica. I may also incorporate certain products from other lines, such as The Body Shop, specifically if you have acneic or sensitive skin. The products that I use for waxing are by Gigi and Clean & Easy. The products that I use for body treatments are by Beauticontrol and The Body Shop. What kind of skin care routine should I be following at home in between treatments? You should be cleansing no more than twice a day with a gentle cleanser and warm water. Pat your skin dry with a soft towel. Follow with a toner and an appropriate moisturizer containing SPF of at least 15 during the day and one without an SPF at night before bed. Depending on your skin type and condition, more products, such as an exfoliant, disinfectant, mask, serum, etc. may be added. After your facial, I can recommend the appropriate products and skin care regime for you. Will you be adding more services? I would absolutely love to. It depends on what you want. I will gladly take suggestions. Please email me for your input and check the website frequently to see what’s new!! Can I get a facial if I am pregnant? Yes. You can get a facial as long as you are comfortable lying down on your back for about an hour. Can I get a facial if I am being treated for cancer? It is recommended that you get clearance and a signed note from your doctor.
